Ledbury Town's Tom Boyle has scooped up the Golden Boot award in the Herefordshire FA County League Premier.

Boyle's 29 goals saw him win the award, with Hartpury University's King Baidoo coming in second with 26.

The 29 goals went a long way to helping Ledbury finish second in the league, a stark contract from last season when they finished bottom of the pile.

Their season did end in disappointment however, losing the Herefordshire FA Charity Bowl cup final last week to Hereford Pegasus Reserves.

But the club have also had some brilliant cup runs, beating a Step 7 team who are practically semi-professional, defeating a Step 6 side, and narrowly losing out to a team who were promoted to Step 5.

But the club have had three sides out this season, providing much needed game time for a whole host of players.

The Reserves finished in a solid mid-table position with 32 points compared to the eight they managed to accrue last season, helping to ready young players for their first team opportunities this season.

The new third team (Swifts) has enabled a new crop of young players from Ledbury Swifts, whom Ledbury Town FC has enjoyed much-strengthened relations with this season, to join our playing ranks at senior level football.

A club statement read: "Ledbury Town Football Club would like to say a huge thank you to all players, backroom staff, supporters and sponsors who have been part of this hugely enjoyable and promising journey this season, and we cannot wait to kick off the 2022/23 season in a few months' time."
