DEAF people across Worcestershire are now able to contact emergency services in three simple steps.
From today, deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users can use the 999 BSL service that connects users to British Sign Language interpreters remotely through an app or a web-based platform.
The 24/7 service contacts users to police, fire, ambulance and the coastguard.
The application can be downloaded easily via the apple and android app stores.
To use the app, all you need to do is open it, press the red button to call emergency services and you will then be connected to your interpreter.

The application is the UK’s first emergency video relay service in British Sign Language
Ofcom set out a requirement for communications providers across the UK to make the service available from 17 June 2022 earlier this year.
The service is the product of a partnership between Ofcom, BT and Sign Language Interactions.
It can also be accessed as a web-based platform by visiting https://999bsl.co.uk/.
