Has the Oxford demographer, Paul Morland, "It's time to think about taxing the childless", The Sunday Times, July 3, developed tunnel vision in his ivory tower?
The childless already pay too much tax as they don't benefit from public sector education and health care to the same extent.
Also the answer to labour shortages is not more children. It is training, skills upgrades, and good pay and conditions.
Encouraging people to have more children is irresponsible in the conditions the country faces.
A million people are now fed by food banks, "Every little helps", Sunday Times magazine, July 3.
Encouraging more people around the world to have children is foolhardy. Surely we know that is ahead for the world? Failed harvests, food scarcity, extreme weather conditions, war, migration, famine. Life outside the ivory tower is worse than inside.
