A MAN trapped in his bedroom after a kitchen fire was rescued by firefighters.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a fire in End Hill Way, Malvern, last night.
A HWFRS spokesperson confirmed that three crews, from Malvern, Worcester and Upton, called to the scene at 9:27pm.
Upon arrival, a fire was discovered in the kitchen of a first floor flat.
The occupant of the flat had been trapped in a bedroom and had to be rescued by fire personnel using a triple extension ladder.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were able to extinguish the flames using a hosereel jet and positive pressure ventilation.
The occupier of the property was then taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital by ambulance.
West Mercia Police also attended the scene.
A spokesperson said: “Around 9.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 19 July) officers attended a property in End Hill Way, Malvern after a report of a fire.
“The occupant of the property was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital as a precaution.
“No other injuries were reported.”
