AN ICONIC  county drag queen is preparing for the 'biggest performance of my life' at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.

Ginny Lemon shared on social media that they will be involved in this year's opening Ceremony at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

In a video shared on Twitter, they said: "Now I have got to tell you about the biggest show of my life coming up this Thursday.

"Be sure to check it out babs. It is going to be an absolute corker!"

The footage showed Ginny and other performers involved in the rehearsals at the Alexander Stadium.

Ginny Lemon rose to fame by appearing on the second UK season of RuPaul's Drag Race and caused a stir when they walked off in the middle of a lip sync against Sister Sister. 

The ceremony starts at 8pm later today, and is due to finish at 10.30pm, marking the start of 12 days for the games.

Over the following days, more than 5,000 athletes from 72 nations will compete in 280 events across 19 sports.

It comes almost 10 years to the day since the critically-acclaimed opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.
