CATS Protection Adoption Centre Evesham will be holding an online event for any cat-lovers interested in being a volunteer fosterer for the organisation.

The online event takes place on Sunday, August 14 at 9am for anyone interested in supporting cats without leaving their home.

Volunteer team leader Clara Youden said: “We know lots of people are curious about cat fostering or have added it to their ‘bucket list’ because they just can’t find the time to look into the practicalities.

"So, we are hosting an online event on a Sunday morning which allows people to join while drinking their morning cup of coffee.

"All they need to do is register and then join the event, listen and ask questions if they wish before getting on with the rest of their day.

“Fostering allows cat-lovers to enjoy giving hands-on care to cats without the long-term responsibility of pet ownership. We provide everything our fosterers need to create the cats’ temporary home - from food, toys and litter to vet care.

“It’s a wonderful way to have a cat or number of cats in your life for a comparatively short time.

"Many of our fosterers will take care of cats until they’re homed and then take a break before taking in another cat or kittens.”

Fosterers will be caring for cats in their own home until a new owner can be found.

No special equipment is needed but cat fosterers do need to have a spare room where their foster cat can enjoy living safely in a home-from-home.

The centre homed almost 200 cats last year and helped many more.

Among the cats who have recently been in foster care are nine-week-old kittens Taco, Tequila and Nacho.

A spokesperson from the adoption centre said that they were brought into care for their own safety at just three weeks old after one of their siblings had been attacked by a dog and did not survive.

They all needed hand-rearing and, as well as round-the-clock care, were teamed with a ‘ticking tiger’ toy which mimics a mother cat’s heartbeat.

Luckily the distinctive trio, who are grey tabby, blue tortoiseshell and pale ginger, are now thriving and have homes of their own ready and waiting.
