A NATIONAL chain with 800 shops across the UK looks set to open in another Herefordshire town.

Screwfix, which sells trade tools, accessories and hardware products, already has shops in Hereford's Mortimer Road, Ledbury's Homend Trading Estate and Ross-on-Wye's Ashburton Industrial Estate

It also has shops further afield in Ludlow, Monmouth, Abergavenny, Malvern and Worcester.

But now it looks set to open a fourth shop in Herefordshire, with jobs advertised in Bromyard.

On Screwfix's website, it is advertising four different posts.

The firm, with 800 shops nationwide, wants an assistant manager, retail supervisor, trade supervisor and retail assistant.

Hours vary between 16 and 37.5 hours a week, with salaries up to £24k.

Screwfix has not yet said where the new shop in Bromyard will be, but the Hereford Times has approached them for comment.

Earlier this year, Screwfix, owned by Kingfisher PLC which also owns B&Q, announced its target of 80 new shops across the UK and the Republic of Ireland, creating more than 800 new jobs by the end of January 2023.

Screwfix's overall target is 1,000 stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

It marked a milestone of 800 shops when it open a new site in Bourton-on-the-Water in Gloucestershire this year.
