AN ATTACKER assaulted a police officer and damaged an electronic signature pen in an incident in Hereford, a court has heard.

Daniel Crum entered guilty pleas to one count of causing criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 and one count of assaulting an emergency worker by beating when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in December.

The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 31-year-old had, intending to destroy or damage property or being reckless as to whether it was damaged or destroyed, damaged an electronic signature pen worth £271.42 and belonging to West Mercia Police in Hereford without lawful excuse on October 8.

He had also assaulted a police officer who was acting in the course of his duties by beating in Hereford on October 8.

Crum, who is of Mayberry Avenue in Hereford was handed an 18-month community order and ordered to complete 50 hours of unpaid work.
