New owners are wanted at pubs across Herefordshire, with a number put on the market this year.

A stunning 14th century drovers inn in Herefordshire is up for sale.

The Rhydspence Inn, near Whitney-on-Wye, is on the market with agents Sidney Phillips for £650,000.

The pub was once threatened with permanent closure when a previous owner moved to turn it into a private home in 2011.

It was taken on and re-opened in 2014 by Mark and Lowri Price after closing in late 2013 and has won a number of AA awards.

The inn also featured on Channel 4's Four in a Bed series in 2017, coming in second place.

Agents Sidney Phillips said the inn features two beamed bars, two restaurants, and eight en-suite letting rooms, all set in 1.1 acres.

It currently has an annual turnover of £403,000 net of VAT.

A characterful pub in a Herefordshire village is up for sale.

The Bells Inn in Almeley is on the market with commercial agents Sidney Phillips for £495,000 (freehold).

The traditional stone-built cottage inn is set in a sought after village, the agents said.


Outside, it has feature rear trade gardens with French windows leading from the L-shaped public bar, a timber events hut, and outside seating.

Inside there is plenty of space for seating with character features including exposed beams and a fireplace with solid fuel burner.

A car park and private garden are also included.

The pub also has its own deli shop, offering a wide selection of goods including homemade quiche, charcuterie, and cheese.

The Bells Inn, which was named Herefordshire Pub of the Year runner-up for two years running, also offers a lunch menu three days a week and goodies from the deli two days a week.

The Red Lion Hotel, nestled on the banks of the river Wye in Bredwardine, is on the market with commercial agents Sidney Phillips for £695,000.

The grade II listed 17th century hotel has been in the same family for the last 40 years, the agents said.

Complete with a wealth of character features including oak beams and log fires, the building has bar, lounge, and restaurant areas.

It also has ten en-suite letting rooms and a separate two-bed owners cottage.

Outside is a pretty beer garden set in the 0.34 acre grounds.

The Bell Inn, in Tillington, is up for sale for £875,000 with agents Sidney Philips after 34 years of ownership by the current owners.

Described as an "outstanding pub and dining venue" by the agent, the pub includes two bars and two restaurants and is set in beautiful gardens extending to 1.26 acres.

Inside, there are exposed beams and feature fireplaces, and a range of seating including fitted benches.

The roadside pub also has a large customer car park and outbuildings, while the owners' accommodation has three bedrooms.

The pub, which has a 4.5 star rating on reviews website Tripadvisor, serves up food from 12.30pm to 8pm and has an annual turnover of £810,000 per annum net of VAT.

Outside is a trade garden with a timber-built covered seating area and a tarmacked car park.

The sale also includes a two-bed private flat.
