ROADS in Herefordshire have been hit by flooding this afternoon.

Herefordshire Council said flooding is affecting the C1098 at Bridge Sollars Road, and warned drivers to avoid it where possible.

Brampton Road in Madley is also flooded and is around a foot deep at the deepest by Hanger 1, the council said, asking drivers to also avoid this road where possible.

Flood alerts are currently in force for the rivers Wye, Arrow, and Lugg, and the river Leadon catchment in Herefordshire, although the Environment Agency has not updated their flood warning website since January 9.

More rain is forecast for Wales and Herefordshire in the coming days, with Met Office yellow warnings for rain issued for today, Wednesday, and Thursday.

The Met Office said rain will become heavier and more persistent during the early evening in Herefordshire, before clearing overnight.

Wednesday will see blustery showers and sunny spells, with showers turning heavy at times and strong winds throughout.

Further persistent rain and strong wind is on the way on Thursday, with blustery showers and strong winds on Friday and Saturday
