TWO men have been handed prison sentences after an attack on a man in a Herefordshire town.

The sentence comes after a 51-year-old man was badly assaulted, suffering a number of injuries to his face, ribs, and other areas of his body, said PC Lowri Jones, of Bromyard's Safer Neighbourhood Team.

The attack took place on September 4, 2018, with the case delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Darren Sutton, 29, of Dry Thistle Close, Bromyard, was sentenced to four years in prison after the case went to trial at Worcester Crown Court for an offence of Section 18 wounding with intent.

His accomplice, Samuel Walker, 27, of Kenwater Close, Leominster, was sentenced to two and a half years for section 20 assault.

"The court case had many delays due to covid but this is a fantastic result," said PC Jones.
