A nursery near Ledbury is celebrating after picking up two awards.

Jack in the Box Nursery in Bosbury has been named the Most Trusted Emotional Learning Environment 2023 for Herefordshire at the Private Education Awards.

And a teacher at the nursery has won an individual honour.

“Despite facing challenges of underfunding and a shortage of qualified staff, the nursery has achieved remarkable milestones,” said a spokesperson.

“Two prestigious awards, along with ongoing accreditations and individual achievements, have highlighted their dedication to excellence.”

The Most Trusted Emotional Learning Environment Award “underscores the nursery’s commitment to fostering a safe and nurturing atmosphere that promotes emotional well-being among young children,” said the spokesperson.

“Creating an environment where children feel secure and supported emotionally is a crucial aspect of their educational journey.”

Kate Davies, the nursery’s deputy manager, was awarded the Expert Early Years Teacher award by the Best Practice Network.

This recognition acknowledges her expertise and dedication to enhancing early childhood education.

“Kate’s commendable efforts reflect her passion for providing a high standard of education and care to the children at Jack in The Box Nursery,” the spokesperson said.

Staff at Jack in the Box Nursery have also been working towards individual achievements and qualifications.

Manager Georgia Johnson-Palmer has recently achieved her Level 3 Early Years Special Education Needs (SEN) qualification, strengthening the nursery's position as a recognised SEN setting.

And Kalata Barratt is in the process of being awarded her Early Years Teacher (EYT) status with the Best Practice Network.

Jack in The Box Nursery is eagerly awaiting its formal Curiosity Approach accreditation, which is expected to be awarded next month.

This acknowledges the nursery's commitment to embracing a play-based and child-led approach to learning.

The spokesperson added: “The nursery's remarkable achievements are even more impressive considering the challenging landscape of the Early Years sector.

“Jack in The Box Nursery has overcome the hurdles of underfunding and a shortage of qualified staff, demonstrating their resilience and unwavering dedication to providing exceptional early childhood education.”
