A CHILD under the age of ten was among those taken to hospital after a crash near Ledbury.

A woman and the boy were taken to Hereford County Hospital following the three-car crash in Lower Eggleton.

A 60-year-old woman, a 20-year-old woman, a man in his 40s and a boy under ten were involved in the crash.

Three fire crews, police, four ambulances and a paramedic officer rushed to the scene at 6.38pm on Friday (June 30).

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a three-vehicle collision on the A4103 in Lower Eggleton at 6.38pm on Friday, four ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

"On arrival, we discovered four patients.

"A woman and a boy were treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Hereford County Hospital.

"A further woman and a man were assessed for minor injuries and discharged at the scene."

The incident left one car stuck on one that had come to rest on a  driveway and the other left on the roadway.

A hose reel jet was used to make the area safe, and an environmental grab pack was used to prevent oil from entering drains.

A spokesperson from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Three crews – two from Hereford and one from Ledbury – were called at 6.53 on June 30 to a road traffic collision involving a small vehicle at Lower Eggleton near Ledbury.

"The incident involved three cars, one of which was on the verge, one had come to rest on a  driveway, and the other left on the roadway.

"The vehicles were made safe using one hose reel jet, and an environmental grab pack was used to prevent oil from entering drains.

"Four casualties – a woman in her 60s, a woman in her 20s, a man in his 40s and a boy under the age of 10 – had all self-extricated and were handed over to the ambulance service.

"The road was closed by police who also attended.

"The incident was marked as pending closure at 8.06."
