Consultation has closed on a bid for an off-sales licence for a new grocery shop in Ledbury.

Ledbury Convenience Store at 23 High Street in the town intends to sell “a wide variety of beers, wines, and spirits” along with “full range of typical convenience store products” according to the applicant, Mehmet Ozer.

His application seeks permission to sell alcohol for off sales between 8am and 11pm seven days a week.

The premises, which is grade II listed, until recently housed the Ledbury Grill, apparently run by a company whose sole director is Mr Ozer, listed as of Turkish nationality.

It has traded as a restaurant or café under four other names since 2009.
