Plans have been put forward to create a café and farm shop in two former railway carriages at a business park near Hereford.

A planning application by financial services firm Allpay proposes converting two 1970s carriages, apparently already in place at Whitestone Business Park off the A4103 Hereford-Worcester road, for the purpose.

A café in the northside carriage would host around 35 guests at a time, while the carriage on the east side would house a farm shop selling local produce.

There would be an outside seating area and parking for 11 cars, while raised beds and a small greenhouse would provide produce for the café and shop.

Geared mainly to workers at the business park, the two would open between 9am and 3pm seven days a week, creating two full-time and four part-time jobs.

The proposal is “in association with” the nearby Carriages at the business park, previously Allpay’s staff restaurant, which the new carriages’ livery will match.

Comments on the application, numbered 232465, can be made until October 24.
