NO matter what time of year it is, a Sunday roast can be just what you need to finish the weekend.

It’s even better when you don’t need to cook it yourself (or wash up!) – that’s why we’ve compiled some of the best pubs in Herefordshire for a roast dinner.

The Oak Inn, Staplow

Take a trip to the Oak Inn if you’re looking for a Sunday lunch near Ledbury.

One reviewer wrote: “We walked into a very busy pub. We had booked a table thankfully. We were seated and given menus and a drinks order taken. A couple of moments later we ordered our food. Staff in there are all super attentive and helpful. My mum’s roast turkey didn’t come with a Yorkshire, so we asked for one. The beef was possibly some of the best I have had. All in all, a great meal with friendly staff. A must if you are in the area.”

Another wrote: “We have been meaning to try this place for a while and we booked in on a Sunday lunch on the way back to south Wales.

“We were greeted at the bar by the staff and landlord and shown to our table in the bar. We were given our drinks and ordered food.

“We both ordered the pate starter and the beef Sunday roast. The starters were massive, and pate and chutney were so flavoursome. The beef roast was stunning with plenty of local Hereford beef, roasties, veg and gravy to die for.”

Moody Cow, Upton Bishop

Tuck into a traditional Sunday roast at Moody Cow, praised for its great food and service.

One reviewer said: “Called in here for lunch and it is a very old quaint pub with lovely staff that provided excellent attentive service. It was not bad and tasted nice with good size Yorkshires and roast potatoes that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside as they should be.”

Another wrote: “This place never fails to amaze me. Always a warm welcome and the food is always top-notch. We love that ingredients are locally sourced, and we both look forward to seeing you all again soon.”

Harewood End Inn, Harewood End

Cottage of Content, Carey

One reviewer wrote: “We had such a delicious Sunday roast – lamb with delicious stuffing, roast pork with black pudding stuffing, roast beef, and Yorkshire. The meat was so tender. The pudding was delicious and light.”

Another review said: “Visited for Sunday lunch. I had the roast leg of lamb and my wife, a coeliac, had the slow-roasted pork. She said that this was the best pork she had been served and loved the stuffing. Give the Cottage a try.”
