Rating: Four out of five, with 23 out of 37 reviews rating it as excellent or very good.

What customers said: “We were late getting dinner and found The Codfather, great service and we ordered the cod bites for our youngest and the chap behind the counter said he had put some extra pieces in.

“We had enough fish and chips for a small meal at lunch time the next day. Kids really enjoyed it and so did we.”

What customers said: “An exceptional fish and chip takeaway. We had haddock and chips and we agreed they were some of the best we’d ever had.

“Fish was boneless and cooked perfectly. Chips were excellent. Great portion size.

“They do a whole range of kebabs, burgers etc but I can’t comment on those.

What customers said: “We have always loved this hidden gem and were surprised when we arrived today to find new owners, they'd only been there since last Thursday.

“Having said that I cannot fault them on the food, the service or the price.

“The staff were so friendly and welcoming and super polite, even to a rather odd acting, impolite customer who arrived whilst we were eating.

“The fish was of excellent quality and the batter so light and crispy. We will definitely be back.”
