ACTIVITIES and wellbeing are key at Ledbury's Deer Park Care Home.

January 22-26 is National Activity Professionals Week and the perfect time to celebrate the dedication and passion of our Activities and Wellbeing (A&W) team at Deer Park Care Home, Ledbury.

Vivienne Hill, Clients Services Manager said: "Our A&W team’s commitment to enhancing the lives of our residents and the support they provide is nothing short of inspiring.

"Together they make a meaningful difference every day, and what better way to mark this annual occasion than by introducing Sarah, our Activities & Wellbeing Lead, Alesa, our Activities & Wellbeing Assistant, our Bus Driver Darren and Gordon, our Passenger Care Assistant."

Sarah Fleeting has been the Activities and Wellbeing Lead for 18 months.

It’s her first role in a care home and very different from what she is used to, but Sarah says it’s so rewarding and knowing that she and her team are making a difference in people’s everyday lives is a very special thing.

Sarah’s empathy and understanding of our residents’ individual needs, along with her sense of humour, are highly regarded within the home.

Alesa Halford loves spending quality one-on-one time with the residents and is known for sprinkling her own kind of special magic into our singing and music activities.

A kind and caring individual, outside of the home Alesa enjoys raising money for charity and each year chooses a charity that is close to her family and friends. She has previously fundraised for #BreastCancerUK, #bowelcanceruk and #DementiaUK.

Our friendly bus driver Darren Mole enjoys taking the residents from all three homes out on regular trips and also ensuring each new venue visited is risk-assessed first.

He likes to help people out whether that be our residents or fellow staff and is also fond of chatting with our residents here at Deer Park and finding out about their past, family and work life.

Gordon Partidge has worked at Deer Park for just over a year and enjoys his role working alongside Darren as a passenger care assistant very much.

He loves socialising, chatting and singing with all of our residents at each of the homes the Porthaven bus supports.

Outside of work, Gordon loves football. He also plays guitar and sings in several local bands – if you visit a watering hole in the local area you may well come across him performing.
