ONE of Britain's most famous TV personalities has been seen in a Herefordshire supermarket.

Former Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond was spotted in Ross-on-Wye's Morrisons supermarket by Trudy Stanton-Barnes on Saturday (January 27).

Hammond lives in the nearby village of Weston-under-Penyard and is often seen shopping in Ross-on-Wye — but Mrs Stanton-Barnes jumped at the chance to grab a snap with him when she noticed him at the check-out this weekend.

Speaking about her unexpected celebrity encounter, Mrs Stanton-Barnes said: "I just asked if he would mind having a photo and he was really nice and said, "Not at all"."

She added that her daughter Alice, who works in Morrisons, has served Hammond at her till multiple times and said he was "very chatty and pleasant".

Hammond used to present the hit TV motoring show Top Gear, and is also known for programmes like Total Wipeout and Brainiac.

His latest show Richard Hammond's Workshop follows his work at his classic car workshop in Rotherwas, Hereford, called the Smallest Cog.
