PLANS for Ledbury’s Carnival goes Gold carnival, on August 26, are progressing well with a number of groups signing up for stalls, main entertainment booked along with a variety of food and local group stalls all looking forward to attending on the day.

Organiser Jan Meredith said plans for the big carnival this year are going well.

She said: “Paperwork is the bain of our lives and has taken up so much of the organisers time as permissions and reports are submitted.

“A donation of over £1100 has been received as part of the Co-Op Community Fund.

“We have been accepted on their programme for support this year.

“This is based on customers selecting Carnival as their chosen group on their existing accounts.

“We will then receive a small proportion of your spending on co-op items.

“It is very simple to take part. Get and register your membership on their website, this will cost you a £1 but you will then be able to support us as a ‘good cause’ plus save money on your purchases.”

Finding the financial backing for the carnival is a struggle and Jan appealed for any organisations which would like to get involved to get in touch.

Finances are still proving to be a challenge with several Grants applied for, and emails and letters sent out to local businesses. We are always hopeful but if anyone is able to support us please contact the Treasurer for more details. jmmeredith58@gmail.com or 07858 599 037.
