A POPULAR sweet shop in Oswestry has closed and emptied its stock out of the unit after the property it was based in was sold.

According to eyewitnesses working in Bailey Street, a van was used to remove stock and empty Mollie’s Sweet Shop at number 18 on Monday, April 15.

And now it has been confirmed that the unit, as well as 20 Bailey Street – next door – have been sold, developers have said.

Forge Property Consultants has reported the sale of two retail units in Oswestry town centre at 18 and 20 Bailey Street, home to Mollie’s Sweet Shop and the former Welsh Computers store which closed around two years ago.

The Advertizer attempted to contact Mollie's for confirmation of the shop's future.

According to Forge Property Consultants, the units were being marketed for offers in the region of £165,000.

A spokesman said: “Currently let as a sweet shop and a (former) computer repair shop in the thoroughfare that links the town centre with the market.

“The two units have a combined annual rental income of £16,600 and are an ideal business investment.

“The joint agents were Celt Rowlands and Co.”
