A consultation is taking place to debate the future of a Ceredigion care home.

The key focus lies in potentially relocating residential care services from Tregerddan Residential Care Home to Hafan y Waun Care Home, after Ceredigion County Council's cabinet gave approval on March 19.

The aim is to gather feedback from care home residents, their families, staff and the wider community about the potential move of care services from Bow Street's Tregerddan Care Home to Aberystwyth's Hafan y Waun Care Home.

The council took ownership of Hafan y Waun Residential Care Home in late 2023 and this acquisition offers a chance to revamp the residential care structure in the northern county region, benefiting both current and future residents.

The council invites the community to share their thoughts regarding the proposed strategy.

Anyone interested can participate through an online consultation at https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=uYWs-IYvNU2Fwnkevin1iPGjcX6xymJDqWTqufKGK7JUM05WWldVMEJIWlVFOUwwWFY4T1pBNVpZRi4u, or request a paper version available at Aberyswyth, Lampeter, Aberaeron, Cardigan, Llandysul and New Quay libraries and Lampeter Wellbeing Centre.

The consultation will run from April 22 until July 15, 2024.

A council representative expressed hope to preserve the collaborative efforts shown by Tregerddan care staff and the Friends of Tregerddan organisation within the potential transfer.

As the priority is residents' wellbeing, the council invites all stakeholders to voice their opinions before the consultation period ends.

People needing the consultation in different formats, such as Easy Read, are encouraged to contact the CLIC Contact Centre either by phone or email.
