A motorcyclist seen swerving across the centre of the road in Chester was found to be over twice the drink-drive limit.

Andrius Kringelis, 30, of Waverley Terrace, pleaded guilty to the charge of drink-driving when he appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Tuesday, April 30.

Prosecuting, Lisa Maguire said it was on April 3 when Kringelis was seen riding a motorcycle "very slowly" on Whitchurch Road, Chester, and was seen "swerving" on the road, crossing the central white lines.

The defendant was stopped and a breath test revealed he had 87 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, more than twice the legal limit of 35.

Magistrates imposed a 22-month driving ban, which would be reduced by 22 weeks upon successful completion of a drink-drive referral course.

Kringelis was also fined £400 and ordered to pay a £160 victim surcharge and £120 court costs.
