The best performing secondary schools in Herefordshire have been revealed in new data.

The Department for Education has published its latest data, showing the average attainment 8 score per pupil, the percentage of pupils achieving standard 9-4 passes in English and maths, and the percentage of pupils achieving strong passes 9-5 in English and maths.

The data also shows the percentage of pupils achieving the English Baccalaureate (Ebacc) with 9-4 and 9-5 passes, and the percentage of pupils achieving Level 2 threshold including standard passes 9-4 in both English and maths GCSEs.

The attainment 8 score measures a student's average grade across eight subjects, including English and maths.

The higher the score, the better the student's performance.

The best performing school in Herefordshire was St Mary's RC High School, in Lugwardine, with an average attainment 8 score of 52.1.

This was followed by The Steiner Academy Hereford, in Much Dewchurch, with a score of 50.8, and Fairfield High School, in Peterchurch, with a score of 50.3.

The Steiner Academy Hereford also had the highest percentage of pupils achieving standard 9-4 passes in English and maths, with 80 per cent.

This was followed by St Mary's RC High School, with 79.9 per cent, and Fairfield High School, with 72 per cent.

The Steiner Academy Hereford also had the highest percentage of pupils achieving strong passes 9-5 in English and maths, with 60 per cent.

This was followed by St Mary's RC High School, with 59.7 per cent, and Fairfield High School, with 51.2 per cent.

The highest percentage of pupils achieving the Ebacc with 9-4 passes was at John Masefield High School, in Ledbury, with 40.9 per cent.

This was followed by St Mary's RC High School, with 34.9 per cent, and Fairfield High School, with 29.6 per cent.

The highest percentage of pupils achieving the Ebacc with 9-5 passes was at St Mary's RC High School, with 28.9 per cent.

This was followed by John Masefield High School, with 28.2 per cent, and Fairfield High School, with 24.8 per cent.

The highest percentage of pupils achieving Level 2 threshold including standard passes 9-4 in both English and maths GCSEs was at The Steiner Academy Hereford, with 80 per cent.

This was followed by St Mary's RC High School, with 74.5 per cent, and Fairfield High School, with 71.2 per cent.
