FIRE SERVICES tackled an early morning house fire in Peterchurch.

A rescue pump was called out early this morning (January 18) to a house fire in Peterchurch, with officers supported by a team from Ewyas Harold.

At just before 5am, crews extinguished what they described as "a well developed fire" using a hose reel and then ventilated the property using a driven fan.

The fire service thanked the homeowner for closing the doors on the way out to limit the fire and smoke damage, with it mostly confined to the hallway and bedrooms.

However they added that access was restricted for the fire appliances, and appealed on their social media pages for people to park considerately so they can easily get to any incident.

It was the second fire the station had attended in under 24 hours.

Yesterday they were one of four crews at a garage fire in Clehonger.
