A HEREFORD couple are said to be living "like kings" after ditching their nine-to-five jobs to live and work on a campsite, and saving £2,000 a month.
Shane Williams, 29, and his partner Sarah Camden, 29, worked as an estate agent and in a bank, respectively, but were “sick” of getting home at 5pm every evening and not spending enough time together, working a combined 90 hours each week.
They didn't want to spend "£1,000 per month on a mortgage or rent” and decided to move from Hereford to Wrexham to live and work on a campsite three years ago.
Now, they work 40 hours a week over five days before getting their days off together, spending their days mowing grass, checking in guests and doing maintenance work, as well as having access to campsite facilities.
The pair took “a bit of a pay cut”, but Mr Williams says they have “more free money” to spend and were able to go away on four holidays in 2025.
Although they originally stayed in a caravan gifted by a relative for free, they have since purchased a £7,000 caravan, and spend time travelling in a £13,000 campervan.

Mr Williams, a campsite warden, said: “We were sick of getting home at 5pm at night doing our normal jobs.
“We had two hours of seeing each other and have to do it all over again whereas now we get to work with each other every day.
“We’ve always liked camping, and we were 26 at the time near enough needing to move out of our parents' houses.
“We thought we don’t want to go and spend £1,000 per month on a mortgage or rent so we bought a caravan and did that – and have loved it ever since."
The couple were promoted to head wardens last year, which meant they ran the wardens team and took home an extra £400 each per month.
However, after taking a four-month “sabbatical” to work on branded social media content, the pair have returned to their old roles for the coming year.
“It’s nice as well to have a job role that had a different way of life," Ms Camden said.
“You get used to being at home and never in the open whereas here we’re closer to being outdoors all the time.
“In the off season don’t get me wrong it can be a little bit of a struggle in the caravan as it’s cold, wet and damp.
“But as soon as it comes to the summer months we’re constantly outside enjoying the sunshine”.
Although the couple plan to save to buy a property, they have decided they will rent it out, and let "someone else pay off the mortgage".
