A HEREFORDSHIRE school has closed its doors after a burst water main hit homes and businesses.

Much Marcle Primary School has announced this morning that it is closed today (March 12) as the school has no water this morning as a result of the burst main in the area.

Welsh Water is on scene at the site of the burst, which was reported in the early hours of this morning.

Currently Welsh Water's live incident map is showing problems as a result of the burst main from near Kempley to Tarrington.

Work started to repair the burst at around 3.45am this morning, with supplies expected to be fully restored by this afternoon.

A separate alert is in force for people living in the Sutton St Nicholas and Eau Withington area due to essential maintenance, with supplies expected to be fully restored in this area this morning.
