TRIBUTE has been paid to a "devoted" and well-known family man who died suddenly on Mother's Day.

Paul Wheeler, who had lived in Ledbury all of his life, died at the age of 61 on March 15.

Following his death from a sudden heart attack, a fundraiser has been launched to give him the send-off he "truly deserves".

In tribute, his family said he had played a hands-on role in all their lives, and "would do anything to make them happy".

"His kindness, care, and selflessness touched so many, and his presence brought comfort and joy to those around him.

"Paul was also the life of the party — if there was music playing, you could be sure to find him on the dance floor, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone around him. His loss has left a deep void that can never truly be filled."

Mr Wheeler's family want to celebrate his memory in a way that "reflects the love, respect, and dignity" he showed throughout his life, and is reaching out for support to cover the costs of his funeral and memorial.

Members of the public who wish to make a donation to the fundraiser can do so via this link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/paul-wheeler-funeral

The family added: "Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly towards ensuring he receives a proper farewell.

"If you are unable to donate, sharing this page would also mean the world to us."

Mr Wheeler's funeral is due to be held at Hereford Crematorium on April 10 at 10.15am.
