Ledbury's Citizen of the Year 2025/26 has been announced.

Nina Shields was given the award during the town's Annual Parish Meeting on April 30.

At the event, residents, community groups, and organisations gathered to share and engage at Burgage Hall.

The meeting was organised by Ledbury Town Council and featured numerous groups like the Ledbury & Stromstad Twinning Association, Friends of the Children’s Centre, and the Scouts.

These groups showcased their recent activities, strengthening the community spirit.

Nina Shields, nominated by Elizabeth Clarke, was recognised for her commitment to the community.

Her wide-ranging contributions include work in local government, education, environmental sustainability, and heritage.

Councillor Havey, the chairman, presented the award to her.

The meeting also honoured Ledbury’s Children’s Ambassadors.

Councillor Hughes, as the president of the Ledbury Carnival, introduced the ambassadors and thanked them for representing their peers at various civic and social events over the past year.

Each ambassador received a copy of John Masefield’s Saltwater Ballads from Councillor Harvey, acknowledging their efforts.

The town council expressed its gratitude to all attendees and contributors, looking forward to further collaborations to improve life in Ledbury.

The meeting, while honouring individual and collective contributions, also served as a platform for the community to come together, sharing information and celebrating the efforts of those who work to maintain and enhance the town's vibrancy and spirit.

The annual gathering is a testament to the community’s commitment to recognising and celebrating the contributions of its members.
