A LEDBURY couple are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary today.

David Mitchell and Pauline Sparrey met at the former Canon Frome School and went on to marry at St James the Great Church at Colwall on June 4, 1966.

David, 80 in September, and Pauline, who turned 80 last month, will be celebrating their 60th anniversary next Thursday by enjoying a family meal.

Their daughter Cara Halling, who has one sister Cindy, said: “My parents say the secret to getting on is to have no secrets, have give and take and discuss things.

“They have lived in Ledbury in the same house for the past 52 years. “Mum lived in Colwall and dad lived in Ledbury. They met at school.

“They married at St James the Great Church at Colwall and had their reception at the Beauchamp Arms in Malvern Link.

“Their first flat was in North Malvern.

“Dad was a builder and decorator and he had his own company.

“Mum worked at Leathercraft of Malvern and then Spicers in Ledbury until she had Cindy in 1971. She is the eldest by three-and-a-half years.

“Dad’s hobbies are fishing, shooting and motorbikes while mum enjoys knitting.

“They have four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. We will be celebrating with a family meal.”
