A tribute has been made to a decorated Special Air Service (SAS) veteran who has died after a "long and courageous" battle with cancer.
Tony La Frenais, who fought during the Falklands War, died on Sunday morning (July 12), the Dublin Central Branch of the Royal British Legion said.
The tribute said he began his military career in the Parachute Regiment before joining G Squadron, 22 SAS.
Based at Stirling Lines in Credenhill, it is one of the regiment's four operational sabre squadrons. Formed in the mid-1960s from the Guards Parachute Company, G Squadron has played key roles in some of Britain's most notable special forces operations, including the Falklands War and the campaign in Afghanistan.
