LEAGUE leaders Ledbury travelled to Hereford on Sunday to play second-placed Westfields in a top-of-the-table encounter.

The game turned out to be Ledbury’s best performance of the season with battling performances in midfield from Tom Webb and Harvey Moss.

Swifts’ defence was marshalled superbly by Thomas Trigg and defended soundly by Max Coleman, Joe James and Lewis Hammond battled tirelessly through out the game but found themselves 1-0 down at half-time.

In the second-half, Ledbury’s front men of Craig Pierce and Jake Robson couldn’t find away through the Westfields defence but a determined Harvey Moss struck midway through the half to equalise.

With only minutes remaining on the clock, a corner taken by Moss found defender Lewis Hammond and his sweet strike from just inside the box gave the Westfields goalkeeper no chance giving Ledbury a 2-1 lead.

The final whistle was met with huge celebrations from the Ledbury players and now gives Swifts a four-point cushion at the top-of-the-table with a game in hand.

Man-of-the-match was stand- in goalkeeper Dan Batty for his outstanding saves and heroics in the Ledbury goal.
