JOHN Masefield students did their school proud during a recent maths challenge competition at Malvern College.
The competition took place on Tuesday, November 11, with Jake Eager, Corey Manns, Max Davis and Harmony Jefferson representing the Ledbury school in the regional final of the UK Senior Maths Team Challenge.
There were thirteen schools there, from Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Shropshire, mostly from the independent sector.
A John Masefield spokesperson said: "The atmosphere was tense and highly competitive over the three rounds of group questions, a cross number with one pair of students completing the across clues and the other the down clues and the final 'shuttle' task, where the answer to one question had to be used to solve the next and so on.
"After two challenging but enjoyable hours, the results were announced, with the John Masefield team achieving a highly creditable fifth place."
