QUIZ enthusiasts have the opportunity to go head-to-head with TV star 'The Beast' when he takes part in a charity event in Hereford next month.
Mark Labbett, from ITV's quiz show The Chase, will be at a fundraising event at The Shire Hall on September 6.
Those at the event will individually will have the opportunity to go head-to-head with The Beast. The top three will then form a team to take him on in the final.
The event's organisers, Hereford Lions Club and Radway Bridge Garden Centre, said it will be Mr Labbett's first public appearance in the city since making his home nearby.
Annabelle Pearson, of the garden centre, said: "Mark has kindly agreed to appear free of charge and the production company will be staging the quiz.
It is a unique opportunity for fans of The Beast, who stars in the long running quiz show here in the UK and also in America and Australia, to challenge him."
The quiz winners' prizes are appropriately sponsored by the local Chase Distillery.
A native of Tiverton, Devon, he gained a degree in mathematics and taught in secondary schools.
He honed his quiz skills during a spell working at Butlins to supplement his income, winning on the quiz machines.
