To mark national Tree Charter Day, Newent Town Council, together with Newent in Bloom, Newent Watch Group and local volunteers, planted around 70 trees at Newent Lake.
The event took place on Saturday November 30.
Michael and Chrissie Bentley from Castle Fruit Farm were also on hand to provide expert advice.
At the end of the event the volunteers enjoyed refreshments donated by the Co-op.
Town Councillor, Christine Howley, who helped initiate the planting event, commented, “I am delighted the council is working with the people of Newent to make the town a greener and more sustainable place to live and work in.
“The planting of trees around Newent Lake is a great way to help continue to create a better environment for all.”
She added: “The Town Council is aiming to support and organise green events in Newent each year.”
