NEWENT Community School and Sixth Form Centre is sending 27 of its most talented pupils to London on a concert tour.
Lead by Yanna Zissiadou, head of music at the school, the tour will present an “entertaining and diverse programme” of classical works and songs from musicals, jazz and blues standards and contemporary pop.
The school’s jazz band, orchestra, concert pitch singing choir and pop group Hella Dank will take part in the trip.
The tour will take place from Friday, February 13, to Monday, February 16, and will start at St Paul's Church in Covent Garden before moving on to St Thomas' Hospital and finishing at Beaumont Community Care Home.
Outside of their performances the young people, who are aged from 11 to 18, will watch the musical Wicked, visit the London Eye and the Hard Rock Cafe and even have the opportunity to busk in Covent Garden.
