CHILDREN from an infants school in Ludlow have been playing a part in trying to secure the town another gold award from the Heart of England in Bloom competition.

Ludlow Infants School runs a gardening club and the youngsters have been planting out in a bid to impress the judges that came to the town last week.

The children were doing the planting in special planters that have been made by Terence Round from the Ludlow Furniture Scheme.

Mr Round was the recipient of a Civic Award from Ludlow Town Council earlier this year in recognition of his service to the furniture schemes that helps families having to set up following relationship breakdowns and in some cases domestic violence.

As well as restoring and repairing furniture he has also been passing in his skills to others.

“Getting the children involved is very important as the judges want to see community involvement,” said Vivienne Parry, who leads Ludlow in Bloom.

“It also means there is a new generation to take over.”
