THIS week, our youth sport feature brings some action shots by Andy Fleming from the under-14 clash between Newtown Sports and WCT Raiders.

Raiders took an early lead and looked dangerous throughout the first half.

Newtown's debutant was placed up top and almost scored with his first touch but the visiting keeper was up to the challenge, the game continued with some hard fought midfield battles, clinical defending and great saves from the Newtown goalie the score remained 1- 0 to the visitors at the break.

The second half saw Newtown piling on the pressure from the start and the Raiders keeper was on form again to stop Newtown from scoring on several occasions.

A 35-yard lob attempt had the Raider keeper beaten but agonisingly hit the top of the crossbar. Newtown's keeper pulled off a brilliant diving save to keep his team in the game. Newtown were awarded a late penalty but the Raiders goalkeeper got down again to the shot and saved it from hitting the back of the net with his face.

A thoroughly entertaining game ended 1-0 to WCT Raiders.

Our photographers will be out and about regularly, catching up with the action but we’re also very keen to receive pictures from parents, coaches, spectators and amateur photographers who want to see their images in the newspaper and online – and seen by tens of thousands of people – with their name published to credit them.

We’re looking for team photos before the match as well as action shots, and just the name of the club or clubs involved.

There’s no need to send us the names of the children taking part.

But, whether it’s football or rugby, hockey or athletics, gymnastics or martial arts, swimming or any of the other sports that our young people are involved with, and you want us to cover your team or can send us pictures of your matches, please email editor Michael Purton at michael.purton@newsquest.co.uk
