THE UK's first fully compostable crisp packet is now on sale at Webbs of Wychbold.
Four different flavours of Two Farmers hand-cooked crisps, an ethically-minded brand by Herefordshire farmers Mark Green and Sean Mason, were launched at Webbs food hall on Monday (October 15).
Ed Webb, owner of Webbs, said: "When we heard about these fantastic crisps we wanted to get them into store as soon as possible and give them our full support.
"Not only are these suppliers local, using local ingredients, their sustainable credentials are really important to us.
"We are always seeking ways to improve the environmental footprint of our business so working with Two Farmers was a natural fit and the type of brand we are committed to championing."
Food at Webbs is selling 40g-sized packs of the Hereford Bullshot, Salt and Two Farmers Cider Vinegar, Lightly Salted and Hereford Hop Cheese and Onion flavoured crisps.
The packets are 100& compostable.
Sean added: "As farmers living and working in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside we have seen firsthand the impact plastic waste can have on the environment.
"We are also crisp lovers and our greatest challenge has been to make great tasting crisps and find a way to bring them to market without compromising on our principles.
"We have also been keen to source as many of the ingredients from our own farm as we can, or from local suppliers.
"Even the salt we use in our lightly salted variety is sourced from neighbouring Worcestershire, where Droitwich Salt harvest their natural salt springs using renewable energy.”
