Birlingham Photography Club held its third annual club photo competition the village hall earlier this month.

This year’s competition was something of a hybrid, offering a mixture of digital and hard copy images in an overall collection of 62 beautifully crafted photographs which included something from almost every genre.

Multi-award winning photographer and one of the leading names at Smethwick Photographic Society, Peter Siviter, faced the challenging job as judge, his task to choose just three images.

He was quick to congratulate everyone who had taken part and was particularly impressed with the standard which, he said, had shot through the roof since he judged last year’s competition.

Peter critiqued each photo, his gentle style and supportive comments outlining the best in every image and giving advice on ways a photograph might be improved upon.

As is the tradition with BPC club competitions, the members had their own vote; a simple 'first past the post' poll and, to prove that they knew what they were looking at, the same image scooped both Peter's top prize and the Members’ Choice.

The overall winner and Members’ Choice, went to Christine Farrell with runner-up places awarded to Mark Waidson and Steve Reynolds.
