The choice of photo manipulation software knows no bounds. There are hundreds on the market and choosing the right one for our specific photographic needs can be something of a challenge.

Buying a camera is only the start of it. To create some of the magnificent images that we see in publications, exhibitions and websites takes a little more than pointing the lens in the right direction. Birlingham Photography Club (BPC) meets on 8th January with a demonstration aimed at de-mystifying the enigma which is photo manipulation software.

Increasingly, photographers rely on software to give their images that finishing touch, turning a good quality photo into something great. The experts are brilliant at this sort of thing, but sadly, we’re not all experts and one of the biggest questions for anyone new to photo manipulation software is which one to buy?

Photoshop has become something of a generic term for photo manipulation, however, there are many more options and we can’t buy them all!

Birlingham Photography Club kicks off 2019 with a demonstration session of three of the big names: Adobe’s Lightroom, DxO’s Nik Collection and the Topaz Suite. Each of these packages offers something slightly different and experienced photographers all have their favourites. BPC’s January meeting is the perfect place to start for anyone thinking of buying software if you are already the proud owner of one of our big three you will learn more about how to get the best out of it.

BPC is open to anyone who is interested in photography. It doesn’t matter what kit you use, or how clued up you are on the computer. The Club meets monthly, offers specialist guest speakers, interactive workshops and peer group support. The January meeting takes place on the 8th, 7pm - 8.30pm at Birlingham Village Hall, WR10 3AB; £4pp to include light refreshments; under 18’s to be accompanied.
