A KINGTON schoolgirl is to have her long, lustrous locks cut off for the Little Princess Trust.

And proud mum Cathy Duggan said that her daughter Jasmin, a 12-year-old second-year pupil at Lady Hawkins' School, is almost halfway to her £500 fundraising target after just a couple of days.

"Jasmin lost her grandfather through health complications and I used to cut his hair while he was ill, although I am not a hairdresser," said Cathy.

"I asked her why she wanted to have her hair cut for the Little Princess Trust and she said that there are kids out there who have not got hair and they need it but that hers would grow back.

"Jasmin was adamant that she wanted to have her hair cut, so we contacted the Little Princess Trust.

"We're looking to have a collection box in the staff room at Lady Hawkins' School and at SunCare Home Care in Kington, where I work, but people can donate through Facebook."

Jasmin launched her appeal to raise £500 for the Little Princess Trust and within two days the total had already soared to £215.

The Little Princess Trust, founded in memory of five-year-old Hannah Tarplee, supplies real-hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people up to the age of 24, who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other illnesses.

Jasmin will be having her hair cut at the offices of SunCare Home Care in Kington at 3pm on Friday, January 18.
