A 60-YEAR-old woman was hit by a car she tried to stop a burglar driving off with her family's Audi in Sedgley.

Police have launched an appeal for information after a man was assaulted and a woman hit by a car following a burglary on the Northway, Sedgley.

The incident happened at around 9pm on Saturday January 19 when burglars entered the Northway home through the rear door.

A 38-year-old man, the occupier of the house that was targeted, was assaulted as he tried to chase two men who are believed to have disturbed his house.

He suffered a shoulder injury as the pair escaped.

A third man, who had stole the keys to the family's Audi S4 on the driveway, then reversed into the 60-year-old woman as she tried to stop the man stealing the car.

She suffered cuts to her head and legs and a hand injury.

The car then hit another passing vehicle as the driver attempted to escape.

Police are now assessing CCTV and making door to door enquiries to identify the men responsible.

DC David Laver, from force CID, said: "This was a particularly distressing incident for the two people who were hurt.

"Thankfully they were not more seriously injured but it was a traumatic ordeal and we need to catch those who were responsible."
