WORCESTERSHIRE County Council is delighted to be sponsoring the Worcestershire Education Awards for the third year running.

The awards were officially launched at the University Arena on Thursday, January 17. The county council is once again proud to be sponsoring the category Teacher/Lecturer of the Year. Nominations are now being sought by schools, teachers, pupils and members of the public for a teacher or lecturer who is a worthy winner in 2019.

Councillor Marcus Hart, cabinet member for education and skills, said: “We have some fantastic teachers and lecturers here in Worcestershire who are inspiring a whole generation of children and young people.

“We are proud to be sponsoring this category for the third year. I’d urge anyone who knows a worthy teacher to get your nominations in before the April closing date.

“Teachers do a great job and often go unrecognised. These awards are a fitting tribute to all those teachers who go above and beyond for the pupils they are teaching and we want to be a big part of that thank you to them.”

Last year’s winner was Greg Satterley, a teacher at Bengeworth CE Academy in Evesham. Known affectionately as Mr S at Bengeworth, he was praised as a teacher who gets the best out of his pupils.

Four out of five schools in Worcestershire are currently rated good or outstanding by Ofsted.  To nominate a teacher before the April 18, 2019 closing date, go to: https://www.worcesternews.co.uk/awards/worcestershire_education_awards/
