MORE generous donations have been flooding in to help Oscar Saxelby-Lee, the five year-old from Worcester battling leukaemia.

A video game Youtuber, from Worcester, known as Meadsy69 has raised more than £3,000 for the family over the course of several live streams in which he plays the popular online game World of Tanks.

Thousands of people have pledged to Ian Simmonds' Justgiving page, which has broken its original target of £3,000 by more than £700.

Gamers from around the world have pledged their support, with donations coming in from as far away as the United States and Australia.

This is in addition to the family's official fundraising page set up by Sue Bladen, from Pitmaston Primary School, where Oscar is a reception pupil.

The total for that page has reached £9,000 in just a few weeks.

Oscar’s story has spread around the world, with news organisations worldwide featuring the little boy's story and the desperate search for a stem cell donor to help save his life.

Nearly 5,000 people turned out at the St John's school on March 2 and 3 to register as stem cell donors.

Since then, similar events have been held at the Guildhall in Worcester, and there is another planned event at the University of Worcester on Thursday.

Another fundraising event to raise money for Oscar's family will be held at Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Gym on March 30.

On Monday, Oscar’s parents Olivia Saxelby, 23 and Jamie Lee, 26, called on members of the public to “Pray for our Bear” as Oscar’s treatment needs changed.

In a Facebook post, Olivia said tests had shown that his current treatment was not working as doctors had hoped.

She said: “The MRD results from this test came back as high risk once again meaning that the regimen he was put on after no response to previous treatment is also not working.

“Before entering transplant the leukaemia blasts need to be below 0.05 per cent, in Oscar’s case the blasts remain at 30 per cent.

“After more tears and heartache we have been given a different regimen to try. This time it has to work.

“We know he can fight this, we know he will show everyone just how strong he is, and we know he will continue to amaze us all."
