Major refurbishment work at Blackminster Middle School is nearly finished

The £830,000 refurbishment of the school in Station Road, South Littleton, includes two new science labs and an upgraded food technology, graphics and art and textiles area.

The school in Evesham was identified as needing an extensive refurbishment and building work last February and has since been undergoing the transformation.

Lorna Button, Blackminster School headteacher, said: "The new labs have been in use since October and the resistant materials area since January.

"So far, students love the refurbishment and we’re all very pleased to have these state of the art facilities available to us.

"Blackminster Middle School will have some of the best science and technology facilities in the county once the work is completed."

Councillor Marcus Hart, cabinet member with responsibility for education and skills, said: “The work at Blackminster Middle School means students and teachers alike can be inspired and creative in state of the art surroundings.

"I’ve seen the new areas of the school and it looks fantastic.”

As part of the refurbishment the school’s playground has also been resurfaced and new security gates installed.

The work, which was designed by Jacobs Ltd and undertaken by Hill Interior Contracts Ltd, began in summer 2018 and will be completed this month.

The project will be managed by Place Partnership Ltd.

The school's refurbishment is part of Worcestershire County Council drive for even better facilities as its schools rated Good by Ofsted.
