A STAFF member at a Bromsgrove newsagents was threatened with a hammer before the man made off with cash and cigarettes.

West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses or information following a robbery in Bromsgrove yesterday morning (Saturday, March 16).

At around 11.45am, a man entered a newsagents on Deansway and threatened a member of staff. It's reported he was holding a hammer.

He stole cash and a quantity of cigarettes before leaving the premises on foot with another male who was waiting by the door.

They left down an alleyway which leads onto Highfields.

There were no reported injuries.

The offender is described as white, approximately 6ft, in his late teens or early 20s, with blue eyes, and blond or light ginger hair. He was wearing facial coverings. 

The male in the doorway is described as a white, in his late teens or in early 20s, approximately 5ft, of an average build, Andy wearing dark clothing.  

Detective Inspector Ed Slough from West Mercia Police said: "A number of enquiries are currently ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the offence or any suspicious behaviour in the area to please come forward. 

"If you have any information, please call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident 282s.”
