Worcester Arts Workshop’s Resident Theatre Company, Outspoken, will be performing a new production this month, exploring issues of mental health, during World Mental Health week.

A spokesman said: "Devised and directed by Hannah Phillips, Dead End is a new, digitally immersive live performance exploring issues of mental health, aimed at young people aged 13 to 20 years of age.

"This performance has been developed from the 2017 production Hyped, produced by Outspoken Theatre Company at Artrix in Bromsgrove. Hyped told the story of a young man called Kyle who battles with his sexual identity, impacting his mental health. The character of ‘Kyle’ was selected by young audience members to be developed further into this latest production."

Dead End depicts real-life mental health experiences, using a fusion of spoken word, song, music, dance and video projection. Audiences can also interact with the performance through the social media platform Instagram.

The spokesman added: "This newly devised piece promises to give young audiences an energetic and thought provoking theatre experience in Worcester Arts Workshop's Theatre in the heart of the city centre."

The production will run from May 14 to May 16.

The performance will also be live streamed on Thursday 16 May at 10.30am and 1.30pm, taking the work to schools as far away as Liverpool and Brighton.

Director of Dead End, Hannah Phillips said; "We have a mental health crisis with young people, a majority dealing with low level mental health and anxiety issues. It is imperative we deal with these very real and pressing issues."
