LEDBURY Poetry festival has organised a Troubadour Writing Day to take place at Clenchers Mill on the Eastnor Castle Estate, on Saturday May 18.

It will be a a rare chance to examine a beautiful example of bygone technology, as well as getting to grips with the poetic muse.

A spokesman said: "Jean Atkin will lead a workshop at Clenchers Mill, starting with a tour of the restored water mill to learn how it works; and should the waters allow the wheel to turn, we will hear, see and feel the building at work.

"Jean will then provide various prompts and ways in which to approach writing a new poem. Bring a picnic, pens and paper, and afterwards, weather permitting, there'll be a brief trip up the Malvern Hills with Jean, to hear more about them, and write from greater heights."

The spokesman added: "Jean is the Troubadour of the Malvern Hills, as featured on the recent edition of Radio 4 Ramblings with Clare Balding."

Tickets are £5, and to book, email Chloe Garner, director@poetry-festival.co.uk or ring 01531 634156 (Monday – Thursday).
