VOLUNTEERS from the Redditch Oakenshaw McDonald’s recently joined forces with Woodfield Middle School and local group Rubbish Friends to litter pick in the area.

This was part of the national Great British Spring Clean campaign run by Keep Britain Tidy.

Volunteers undertook two events, the first covering the local housing area of Oakenshaw, and the second covering the area around the Oakenshaw restaurant.

In total, 13 bags of rubbish were collected.

Pupils from the Woodfield Middle School were then also invited to a talk from McDonald’s and Rubbish Friends on the benefits of recycling.

McDonald’s franchisee Robert Holdcroft, who owns and operates the Oakenshaw restaurant, said: “McDonald’s has been collecting litter in our communities for over 35 years, and I’m proud of our litter fighting heritage.

"It’s more important than ever we continue in the fight against litter and I would like to thank everyone who gave their time to join us for this event."
